Brand Protection.
A brand is the identity of a specific product, service or business. A brand can take many forms, including a name, sign, symbol, colour combination or slogan. It probably comes as no surprise that the word “brand” in business terms is derived from the hot iron stamp used by cattle owners as a way of telling one person’s cattle from another.
Established brands (and the intellectual property rights associated with them) are often abused by counterfeiters. This “brand abuse” can take the form of the sale of fake goods or even the sale of authentic goods through unauthorized channels, known as grey market selling.
At WIS International, we work with a number of well known brands in our ACF programs. The services we provide include monitoring the market place for the sale of counterfeit and grey market goods, conducting investigations to determine their source as well as field investigations to locate the sale of CFT goods. In many cases WIS International works with law enforcement agencies in coordinating raids and criminal charges against the counterfeiters.
We undertake investigations from end seller to manufacturer, product purchasing to observations; tracing back along the chain to the point of origin.
As CFT gangs often operate globally it is important to have a good network of investigators throughout the world and especially in the East. WIS International, through its network of trusted Investigators, is able to undertake the type of complicated cross border ACT investigations that deliver results to our clients; helping them eliminate the fraudulent use of their brand and, in so doing, protecting their brand equity.
